Meeting in a nicer smaller space
Hi guys... i just wanted to write a little update on the meeting (scene report?).
The smaller permanent round tall yurt is fully lined and gorgeous, completely carpeted and has no chairs-- it's all couches! As well as a large set of pillows and 2 big coffee tables, and it's right next to the upper bathrooms and the outdoor kitchen BBQ so we can cook/ set up food too.
Drawback? It is nestled next to the permanent residents yurts so play noise has to be zero after the meeting (or we can walk down to play at our old larger spot). But this is t he HUGE WIN happy spot for me. It's like meeting in a very warm round living room instead of a huge round dance hall. The intimacy level is about 4X what it was, and we can enjoy the floor space.
When i got there it was storming the mountain down (THANK GODDESS that it's only 10 min outside of L.G. and 4 turns once i take the Exit on the freeway!) and i hit the restaurant and got a hot coffee before joining the gang- several of whom indulged their 'littles' and were curled up under comforters- for a nice talk on 'alignment'- how do slaves align their will to Master (Owner/ partner) and how do the ones in charge figure out how to both FIND a direction and then CONVEY it to their partner?
Our particular MAsT chapter is open to all folks, and we don't require a Master/slave orientation because it's about POWER EXCHANGE and 90% of our discussions are beneficial even to those who aren't in 24/7 TPE's. That means that folks who are collared, or not living together, or even those who are currently not in a committed relationship are all welcome to attend and will find information and have input that is welcome. We are 'non-denominational' so we have Gay couples that are not into BDSM, het couples that are not into TPE, triads, and welcome folks not currently engaged in a M/s relationship as well.
WHY?
Our chapter is based on the idea that we will gel as a cohesive family support unit for those who DO live with protocols, TPE, and the complex myriad things involved in a Master and slave relationship.
But those relationships ALL look different. No 2 people have the same set of rules, some have almost no protocols at all. Our current N/W Title holders have cross transparency- the Master is just as transparent as possible to the slave, which is something many Masters would NEVER think of doing. Some M/s couples are poly, others are swingers as well and some have NO BDSM or sadism at all in their relationships. WOW- what a concept!
Given that kind of width, it's not hard to see how much most M/s couples mirror the larger power exchange society at large, and that many folks who live in TPE areas will find common ground with us.
We also believe in education. How can someone who is learning the ropes of BDSM feel comfortable and at ease around the high protocol world of the gay leathermen if they have no clue? But, if they are willing to come and listen, they can learn a great deal about the PE and slavery, Mastery and ownership angles of WIITWD- and maybe even find something that calls to them personally.
Single? Yes, there are some chapters that require you be in an active relationship. There are some chapters that require you be in a active LIVE IN 24/7 relationship. There are some chapters that require all that and that you adhere to their general public protocols.
We think that's cutting the pie a bit fine.
For one thing, it would be kinda weird to require folks to be in an active relationship- after all, where the hell is a person supposed to go to for SUPPORT when their relationship breaks up?????
For another, it would have been pretty awkward for me after my Collared Master and i uncollared if i had then had to leave the group i FOUNDED :)
And for another, that requires outside persons to evaluate what someone else's relationship is (you know, like when you take back the collar but are still playing with the person, or when they have 3 people that live in but one had kids and can't stay all the time... etc). THAT's just wrong. So we haven't written those kinds of hard lines in the sand.
We DO require that anyone attending totally respect the protocols of all other persons (that's what they used to call 'being polite' back in the 50's when folks were respectful as a general rule), and we give a safe space for M/s persons to live their lives openly (including the more esoteric rules about asking permission to speak to a slave or honoring a Master by your actions around them) so long as those do not interfear with the abilities of anyone to participate fully and respond honestly and completely in discussion times.
The kink community is complex, and i KNOW that new 20-something furries aren't in the same social place as 40-something lesbians into service or 50-something gay men into severe sadism or 30-somethings into poly households, and our meetings are not a good time to educate someone on the basics of PE or M/s- we are gathering to talk about the actual issues we grapple with.
And to share our joys.

Masters and slaves Together of Santa Clara County has been honored and thrilled with the support and regular attendance we have received. We are a safe space for couples and seekers to come and share their feelings, needs, and to find support and friendship.
We meet up in the redwoods in a lovely large Yurt that can seat 40 comfortably. Please feel free to set up your place or arrange your toy bag in our meeting hall while you enjoy the pool, the hot tubs & spa. A clean, well run environment with plenty of parking, great meals (most of us indulged in a gourmet dinner at the restaurant before the meeting) and convivial folks is the perfect starter to our monthly discussion. Wine and beer are available for responsible adults as we relax and enjoy the sunset through the wall of windows looking into the sunset.

Masters and slaves Together of Santa Clara County wants to extend a huge welcome to the many lovely people who came to our May meeting and those who RSVP'd for June so far. We are HONORED to be a safe space for couples and seekers to come and share their feelings, needs, and to find support and friendship.
Our topic of conversation Sunday was on the way we learn this life- do we teach our partners, do we have to do the work internally to be the best we can be, or is it some hybrid? - took up most of our meeting, after we met our hosts and got a chance to find out about the memberships (many of us are already members or will be joining shortly) and what we can expect in the coming months.
The HUGE response has been met with 2 new assistants handling our mail and replying with directions and special rewards for all JUNE meeting attendees.
The first meeting at our new space was FABULOUS. A clean, well run environment with plenty of parking, great meals (most of us indulged in a gourmet dinner at the restaurant before the meeting) and convivial folks up in the redwoods started our evening, and a record number of attendees was easily accommodated in the large clean new meeting room we have.**PLEASE DO BRING YOUR OWN LAWN OR PORTABLE CHAIRS (OR PET PILLOWS FOR THOSE ON THE FLOOR) AS OUR HOSTS DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH FOR THE GROUP**.

Meeting of MARCH 22, 2010
We had our first meeting with our new Directors Uncle Abdul & His slave delight, and a rousing success it was!
Over 25 folks attended and we began the task of plotting a new direction for the group, including getting feedback on having more speakers like the wonderful Mr. Akouda from the SFDSDG.
MAsT Santa Clara County will continue to have open public meetings every month on a drop in basis for anyone interested in power exchange relationships with our focus being those that are Masters and slaves, Owners and property, and lifestyle leather PE's. We will also begin having private meetings for our members (those who have been selected to participate regularly in the foundations and growth of the group) and play parties are being organized for the chapter as well.

Master A.J. (Strong Eagle), Tydomus, shadow and jazira are pleased to announce the official opening of the Santa Clara County MAsT chapter.
We are a pansexual organization dedicated to supporting, assisting, educating, and providing fellowship with those who seek to learn more about or celebrate the Master/slave dynamic in their lives.
We are an invitation only group, and encourage those who believe that they would benefit from our organization to contact i999shadow@aol.com or tydomus@gmail.com concerning membership.
Founded in May, 2007, we are a young new group and part of the 2007 reorganization as MAsT leadership moves from House Kepplar to the leadership of Master Conrad. We are thrilled to work with the steady and capable Masters and slaves that have gone before us in providing a place for us all to share, grow, and support each other.
AJ and shadow considered this honor for months before making the commitment to found a local chapter here in the South SF Bay area, and then waited for the Universe to guide them to Tydomus and jazira as the perfect co-directors in this venture. All of them are committed to the power exchange of M/s and the ideals of respect, trust, communication, service, and honor that have been traditionally associated with M/s within the "Old Guard" leather world they have been exposed to.
That ideal has led them to MAsT, and in turn, to share what they feel with others.
We hope that this is a learning haven, a social connection, and a supportive environment. We are *not* a dating service or a fundraising group nor politically involved to any degree. We are invitation only at this time, although we encourage those who are interested to contact us for more info.
Meetings are monthly on the first Sunday from 4 to 6 PM (subject to change by group caveat) in private homes. Directions will be sent to those who RSVP from the membership.
We ask that everyone bring a dish/drink to share and come with questions, possible topics for discussion, or interesting articles to share about the Power Exchange life choice.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome!
This month, our active Directors Tydomus & his lovely jazzira are going to be on
vacation, and i wish them a wonderful time.
i would LOVE to see everyone invite a guest this month, or encourage a friend to
come and get to know the Santa Clara county MAsT chapter.
Some of us have been doing this so long that we are not always aware of what
others do or don't know, and some of us have been doing this so long that we are
woefully sloppy at it sometimes:)
i think i would like to propose talking about just that-
M/s is a formality based relationship, but people get into ruts, get lazy, and
we tend to let things slide.
How do we notice when this is happening?
WHAT are the things we let slide, fail to keep up on, or allow to become
unaligned?
What are some of the things we can do when we notice this- do we have written
basic rules we refer back to?
Do we notify our partners when we see THEM letting things slide, or do we try to
quietly force change?
Do we keep an eye on things all the time at the expense of being able to just
enjoy the ride?
Do we have written journals and logs we can refer to when time passes so remind
us of what we wanted our relationships to be like, or do we want to have
evolution and not stick to a program?
Those are some of the things i would love to bring up this month.
On the agenda:
Past meetings: What have we wanted to do that has not happened?
What ONE goal can we agree on within the next 6 months?
Growth- how do you want it to happen?
Bring your note pads, your great summer reading materials, and any recent
memories of wonderful M/s moments and events that can help us define what we
would like to become.
Also- BRING SNACKS! Lets all contribute to some munches, fruit, cheese,
crackers, etc.
